Artists In Residence

The GARNER Residency Artist Program is a new initiative that selects artists developing new language in their work to present their artwork in GARNER exhibitions, studio visits, public art classes, video productions, virtual galleries, and special events to complement the mission of GARNER Arts Center. Artists work with GARNER curators, community artists and their own collaborators to develop content, local connectivity, and solutions to contemporary human issues through creativity.

The 2020-21 cycle’s two resident artists bring the foremost awareness and skill sets in their fields. Daniel Lanzilotta is challenging the model for environmental art in creating evocative artworks from discarded materials which create irresistible attraction, awareness and action into individual and community life. Shura McComb is a multimedia artist who creates un-coded immersive visual language in video, mapping projection, movement art, and VJ mastery across all surfaces, in all environments, virtually and live.

DANIEL LANZILOTTA
Environmental Artist

Daniel Lanzilotta brings significance to the seemingly insignificant using post consumer waste to create works of art. Daniel works with plastic waste, detritus, rubbish, fragments of litter, trash, flotsam and jetsom. He works predominantly with plastic ocean debris and calls himself a ‘Plastician”. His work is a celebration of items cast away in the environment.

A native New Yorker, born in the Bronx, Daniel holds a Bachelor of Fine Art degree from Carnegie Mellon University. His work has been exhibited in Europe, New York, Pennsylvania, Connecticut, New Jersey, California, and Haiti.
