A Night of Noticing
We invite you to be among our very first guests as we introduce a new gathering space, “The Calico Room”.
Please join us for the GARNER Arts Center’s Night of Noticing, a multi-sensory event featuring a seasonal feast and an opportunity to see, listen and experience GARNER in a new way.
Saturday, December 7
6:00- 9:00
GARNER Historic District
What was once among the nation's foremost hubs of calico fabric production during the 1800's has now been re-awakened into “The Calico Room”. Inspired by artist’s lofts of yesteryear, this expansive 6,800 square foot former warehouse will be filled with art, artifacts, findings and furnishings collected from GARNER as we begin to re-imagine this grand room into a gracious gathering space - a venue that celebrates the past, present and future of this historic complex and the communities that continue to reinvent it.
The night begins with a carefully curated cocktail hour, surrounded by the Annual Member Show in Building 35. We will then wander past an illuminated creek into a candlelit alleyway, asking you to slow down and take note of a calico trail hidden in architectural details, leading to The Calico Room.
This intimate evening unfolding in a grand space will offer a preview to what lies ahead for The Calico Room. As we move into Winter, you will be invited to delight in locally sourced tastes and foraged flora of the season, while lingering at lavish tables and lounging in curious corners. You will also have a chance to meet the artisans and makers that will help create the evolving environment of The Calico Room.
Stay tuned as we introduce you to the making and the makers of The Calico Room.
All proceeds will benefit GARNER Arts Center, a 501(c)(3) not-for-profit organization.
